The Future is Forward!

Use of the Optitrac® concept is available for licensing to railway infrastructure

development, railway engineering or development financing consortiums. For

more information about our solutions, patents or licensing, please contact us.

The patent revolves around a modular and circular economics approach for converting existing railways into ballastless (single or dual beam) precast concrete sections with embedded power and fibre optic cabling and breakout nodes, while recycling the steel and ballast of older rail tracks.

One servitude optimised for enabling flexible integrated

next generation infrastructure!

Developing economies are in particular need of cost-effective infrastructure development solutions for enabling a wide range of socio-economic development opportunities.

The Optitrac® vision is to reduce the cost and carbon footprint of infrastructure development projects, while accelerating rollout and improving feasibilities of the traditional layers of of infrastucture development.

Patents for the Optitrac® designs and concepts have been registered in 19 countries so far!

Infrastructure that connects Industries, Business, and People

Better. Smarter. Faster.

Optitrac® is modular and allow for different form factors as needed for track areas within railway stations, ports or industrial environments, or longer distance sections. The modularity allows for more breakout points to be added without major disruption.

This requires an increasing return on investment through designs capable of unlocking multiple and revenue stream opportunities and cross-industry collaborations that cannot be achieved by individual industies or through traditional infrastructure silos.

The development of rail infrastructure in Africa has been lagging for decades and continue to hamper the economic potential across the African continent, simply because rail, similar to public transport, approached as a standalone silo, is not always feasible, and there is a massive amount of duplication with other forms of infrastructure.

Until recently, shared infrastructure as a business model was heavily frowned upon. Today it is fast becoming best practice. Optitrac® introduces the next version of this. Not just shared infrastructure, but the enablement of infrastructure shared across industries by using common servitudes.

The recent inflection point in growth in the next waves of demand for broadband,  renewable energy, smart mining, smart agri, smart infrastructure, smart cities, charging stations for electric vehicles, demands new approaches. Faster speed of execution, new, and sustainability focused systems thinking. Across industries and traditional silos.

Optitrac® makes this possible. New routes, route upgrades, retrofit, whether freight or passenger transport modals, mines, ports or light rail solutions for connecting future cities.

"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can"

Optitrac® is an integrated railway infrastructure concept, developed to reduce the cost and carbon footprint of building, upgrading and maintaining railways, roads, power transmission, and terrestrial fibre communications infrastructure.

What if railway and transport corridors could be repurposed as more than just transport corridors? And what if we can use existing servitudes and existing materials to help us achieve that?

Optitrac® significantly reduces the cost, downtime, and carbon footprint during constuction, upgrade, and maintenance phases. The system is pre-fabricated, modular, and requires fewer materials to be processed and transported to site.

Optitrac® is an integrated railway infrastructure concept, developed to enable a fundamental shift in the cost and carbon footprint of building, upgrading and maintaining railways, roads, power transmission, and terrestrial fibre communications infrastructure.

With Optitrac® we can take infrastructure sharing to the next level.

By embedding cabling systems into the railway track itself and allowing for the segregation of railway specific power and communications, with full modularity for breakouts for railway purposes, and segregated breakouts for regional power or fibre networks, the real value of railway servitudes are significantly increased. Doing so by revitalising outdated railway tracks and repurposing old sections of metal, concrete, and ballast rock, also reduces the combined cost of infrastructure development.

Optitrac® makes it possible to provide breakout points for power or fibre networks inside railway reserve, without compromising the integrity of railway communications or power.
